I recently came across an interesting list of Ghandi’s Seven Blunders of the World that I’d like to share with you.
Ghandi’s Seven Blunders of the World
The Seven Blunders of the World is a list that Mahatma Gandhi gave to his grandson on their final day together. The list is fascinating, but even more piognant when you learn that this was shortly before his assassination. They make interesting reading and set my mind running. The seven blunders he identified are:
- Wealth without work
- Pleasure without conscience
- Knowledge without character
- Commerce without morality
- Science without humanity
- Worship without sacrifice
- Politics without principle
This list grew from Gandhi’s search for the roots of violence. He felt that seeking to prevent these would be the best way to prevent society from reaching a point of violence.
A Fresh Approach
I began to wonder what my own Seven Blunders of the World would include. Those seven things that we are collectively getting wrong. Those seven issues that if we only got right, could lead to greater success, happier lives and a fairer world. This is what I came up with:
- Ambition without compassion
- Fame without talent
- Success without struggle
- Power without responsibility
- Leadership without direction
- Inspiration without motivation
- Action without purpose
The Next Step
What do you think? What would you add or remove from the list? What would your own list of Seven Blunders look like?
